Course Introduction:
The Course in Anaphylaxis Awareness meets the needs of staff working in Children’s Services who are required to have undertaken accredited anaphylaxis management training under the Children's Services and Education Legislation Amendment (Anaphylaxis Management) Act 2008.
Qualification & Recognition:
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the nationally recognized qualification in Anaphylaxis Awareness 21827VIC
Pre-Requisite:
This training is available to all persons working in a children’s service where a child who is at risk from anaphylaxis is enrolled (eligible staff may include cooks, cleaners, qualified and unqualified staff, relief staff, licensees and parents.)

Course Length & Delivery:
The program is delivered in the workplace. This competency based course is a short course of 3 hours contact time plus time required for the participant to develop a Risk Assessment Plan in their workplace
Assessment:
The Course in Anaphylaxis Awareness is:
Valid for 3 years.
Has no prerequisite for undertaking the competency based training.
To be awarded a statement of attainment participants will have to achieve competency in or complete: Recognition of allergy and anaphylaxis – Scenario tested competency
Administration of an EpiPen – Scenario tested competency
Demonstrate knowledge of policy/allergy – True/False knowledge test
Complete a Risk Assessment of their Workplace – there will be a random follow up within 6 weeks of a selected participant completing the course. Competency is assessed through a combination of assignments, progress, tests and clinical assessments.
