How are these traineeships funded?
The Victorian State Government may pay the cost of training the trainee. This payment is made directly to CTA if a trainee meets the eligibility criteria. The Commonwealth Government pays employer incentives to organisations that support their staff on traineeships.
Is there a cost to the trainee?
The Victorian Government requires the trainee to pay $1.37 per hour of training for their tuition. A maximum of $877 is charged within a 12 month period. If the trainee is in receipt of certain government payments then the training will cost no more than $55. (2008 Government fee structure). Note the fee payable is subject to changes in Victorian Government direction.
There are also separate costs for materials, books and uniforms.
