Course Introduction:
The HLT32607 Certificate III in Pathology is a qualification that gives graduates the skills and knowledge to work as pathology specimen collectors in pathology collection and clinical diagnostic areas. Graduates may work independently or as part of a team in laboratories, medical centres, hospitals and other health settings.
Qualification & Recognition:
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the nationally recognised qualification HLT32607 Certificate III in Pathology.
Pre-Requisite:
- Students who have not successfully completed Year 12 with passes in both Maths and English or Certificate III or higher in Australia will be required to sit a literacy and numeracy test, which can be completed at CTA.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship, permanent residency or an appropriate visa.
Credit Transfer:
If students have already successfully completed units within the qualification, credit can be granted within our program.
Recognition of Prior Learning & Current Competencies:
Competencies gained through other formal study or experience may be acknowledged through a recognition process.
Job Prospects:
Graduates from the course may apply for work in the private & public health sectors as a Pathology Collector.
Opportunities for Further Study:
Articulation may be possible into other diagnostic qualification courses. After completing the Certificate III in Pathology course you will be required to progress into the Certificate IV in Pathology as per industry requirements.
Course Length & Delivery:
The program is run on campus and consists of classes 2 days per week for 12 weeks from 9.00am – 3.15pm.
Extensive practical experience is undertaken in the Care Training Australia clinical laboratory.
Assessment:
Competency is assessed through a combination of assignments, progress, tests and clinical assessments.
